If you are not satisfied with your Manitou SPV fork you can accomplish this modification quite simply, and its reversible, not too mention you might just find your modified fork performs a little better as low speed bump compliance improves.

SPV and propedal platforms are designed specifically to inhibit rider induced movement produced from pedalling, as explained elsewhere one way check valves have been introduced to what once was a fixed orifice that allowed oil flow to either side of the damping piston at low speed, now greater resistants is present and oil flow is ether forced through a stable platform valve or routed through a shimmed piston where normally high speed and big hit flow is controlled.

Personally I feel the situation is divide two ways, some bike riders like a supple, active suspension others prefer the firm low speed ride, this modification is simple, and gives you opportunity to try variations yourself.

Figure 1 shows an exploded view of a Manitou stable platform valve and piston assembly found in a suspension fork.

Figure 2 shows the SPV and piston assembly complete, while Figure 3 shows an exploded view of the check valve assembly, the check valve and spring can be removed to allow a more active front suspension.
