HSC is a division of Krankin.co.nz, originally krankin
began as a small dirt jump park in 1994, constructed by a few bike riders
with the desire to have something different, to not only ride but
accommodate the few who could see something other than general trail
riding.
Kranknpark was the first bicycle super cross track in New
Zealand, now well established and over the years developing several
divisions, from Krankin Co, Krankin, www.krankin.co.nz and High Speed
Cycles.
High Speed Cycles has been operating legitimately since
the year 2000, the objective to introduce suspension fork and rear shock
service and repairs direct to the bike rider, and includes reputable
bicycle components, frames and custom assembled bicycles … with the
emphasis on high tech mountain bikes.
My interest in bicycles began as a teen, and in
1973 acquired my first road bike, I raced competitively for several years,
although successful my desire for road racing lost the gloss, and I turned
away from the podium after discovering it was the bicycle I was interested
in, and so began many years of being content with solo long distance
rides, keeping the fuss to a minium and with no interest what so ever in
sharing my personal goals. When the MTB took over the road bike I
attempted a few XC and DH races, achieving resonable placings in several
events, and although improvements in both disciplines could obtain better
results, the challenge of winning was no incentive, and all mountain
biking ( although not dubbed this at the time ) encouraged me to fade away
from the competitive side of the sport, and enjoyment was found
in solo bike rides that would often last all day.
HSC originated from the early days of cycling, as the MTB
introduced the cycling discipline off road in NZ, the demand for road
cycle mechanics with extend abilitys increased, further knowledge was
required when the evolution of MTB’s began to mimic off road motorcycles
with innovative improvements like suspension and disc brakes.
My back ground as a mechanic in my family business, aided
by my curiosity towards anything mechanical encouraged me to own bicycles
that were kept in perfect working order, with the addition of custom
modifications to various components, trial and error, including us much
education on specific components, my bikes, and how they operated would
draw attention, and my reputation of competent service skills had fellow
MTBers utilizing the experience, and their bikes would end up on my work
stand, and eventually High Speed Cycles eventuated.
Early 2008 and the customer base represents over 1000 bike
riders, all names recorded in the HSC computer, which includes a large
number of service records indicating long term customers who send their
suspension units to HSC for service and repairs, acknowledged by NZ
suspension distributors, parts and service kits are available for most
makes of suspension components, with world wide contacts for the not so
common, and alternative service parts sourced for obsolete or rare forks
and shocks.
